Clinic Policies

At The BRANCH Medical Clinic, our physicians and staff are friendly, kind, compassionate, and approachable. We strive to maintain an inviting, warm environment, and culture at the clinic on a daily basis. However, we have set the following policies to allow us to better serve our patients, to enable ease of flow, and to ensure both physician's and patient's valuable times are respected. So, our expectation is that our patients, in return, act in a kind, courteous, and respectful manner to all our physicians and staff. As such, we do not permit any verbal abuse in person or on the telephone.

ARRIVAL AT THE CLINIC
Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment start time. This time allows you to fill out any necessary and required forms, have the nurse complete any required vitals (such as blood pressure, etc), and change clothing if necessary. Please ensure you come with your Alberta Health Care Card to all visits and appointments.

WAITING TIME
At The BRANCH Medical Clinic, we value and respect your time and patience. However, we are a medical clinic and medical emergencies do occur that are beyond our control. As such, there may be some waiting time. In the event there is, we will appreciate your patience. Nevertheless, our clinic staff will always endeavor to keep the schedule. We like to thank you in advance, for your cooperation and understanding.

WAITING ROOM ETIQUETTE
We welcome all patients to our clinic and want you to feel comfortable while you are waiting to be seen. We kindly request patients to respect others by following some basic waiting room etiquette:
  • Please be respectful of other people’s space.
  • Please kindly keep your belongings with you at all times.
  • Please ensure your kids do not climb or jump on the furniture.
  • Please kindly do not block or allow children to play by the entrance.
  • Please do not leave your children unattended in the waiting area.
  • Please refrain from laying across the furniture in order to ensure other patients are able to be seated.
  • Please kindly turn down/off the sound on your electronic devices, such as mobile phone.
  • Patients are encouraged to wear their masks at all time for their safety and the safety of others

LATENESS
In the event that you arrived late, as courtesy to other patients, your appointment will be shortened to the remainder of the original scheduled appointment. However, if you are more than 10 minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule. Nevertheless, a physician may still choose to accommodate you if they are able, but this is decided on a case-by-case basis.

NO-SHOW & SAME DAY CANCELLATION
If a patient does cancel on the day of their appointment or does not show up for a scheduled appointment, the patient will be charged the full price of the visit. Patients must provide at least 24 hours advanced notice and it must be done via the telephone. However, we understand that sometimes, unforeseen circumstances can occur – for instance, if a patient has gone into labour, they will not be charged a no-show fee.
A bill will be sent to the patients address with the expectation that the bill is paid prior to any subsequent appointments. This policy is in place out of respect to the physician's time lost not providing care to another patient. We thank you for your understanding.

CHANGE IN PERSONAL INFORMATION
Existing patients should please ensure to provide our clinic staff, as soon as possible, an update regarding any changes related to your contact information including address, phone number, email address and emergency contact information.

PRESCRIPTION REFILLS / RENEWALS
At The BRANCH Medical Clinic, we strongly encourage all patients to book an appointment for prescription refills/renewals. This allows the physician to ensure that it is appropriate and required for your continued medical care and need.

INFORMATION CONFIDENTIALITY
When collecting, using, or disclosing health information, we will only collect, use, or disclose the amount of health information that is essential to enable us to carry out the intended purpose.
The information provided by our patients and/or clients shall be treated confidentially. We protect your personal health information with great care.
The minimal personal information collected through our online forms and/or paper forms is needed to enable us to connect you to our doctors who are accepting patients; and to enable us carry out the intended medical purpose. This is the only purpose for which your information will be used.
Information Disclosure: We do not disclose clients’ information to unrelated third party for any reason unless legally compelled. However, if a third party such as family, insurance companies or lawyers require your medical information, you will be asked to provide written authorization for the release of any of your relevant medical records.
Our Website is Protected: This site is secured with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) – a computer networking protocol that manages server authentication, client authentication and encrypted communication between client’s machine and the host machine (server). However, despite our efforts, please be aware that there is still some risk involved in transmitting data over the internet.
